Call for Papers—National Association of Abandoned Mine Land Programs Annual Conference

September 19–22, 2010, Scranton, PA

The National Association of Abandoned Mine Land Programs (NAAMLP) is issuing
a call for papers to be presented at 32nd annual conference
of the NAAMLP.  NAAMLP is a non-profit organization whose members consist of
the 31 states and Indian Tribes conducting abandoned mine reclamation
programs under the federal Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of
1977.  The conference is scheduled for September 19-22, 2010 at the Hilton
Hotel and Conference Center in beautiful downtown Scranton, Pennsylvania.
This year's conference theme, "Their Legacy, Our Heritage, Everyone's
Future
" was chosen to highlight the nation's rich mining heritage, the
significant accomplishments in reclaiming the legacy of that mining, and to
focus on the goals for the future.  The rich history and unique AML problems
of Pennsylvania's anthracite region make for an excellent meeting venue, and
the NAAMLP looks forward to an informative and memorable conference.

For information or questions concerning the NAAMLP call for papers, please
contact Eric Cavazza at Presentations@NAAMLP2010.com or visit the conference
website at www.NAAMLP2010.com.

The 8th Biennial Workshop of the Interstate Technical Group on Abandoned
Underground Mines (ITGAUM) will be held in conjunction with the NAAMLP
conference at the same venue September 22-24.  The ITGAUM Workshop will
focus on the effects of mine development on public highway planning, design,
construction and maintenance as well as other infrastructure development.
Related topics pertaining to subsurface exploration and geophysical testing
to identify potential hazards associated with underground mines will be
addressed.  Relevant case histories related to the impacts and remediation
of underground mines will be presented.

For information or questions concerning the ITGAUM call for papers, please
contact Bill Christensen at Bill.Christensen@dot.state.oh.us or visit the
ITGAUM website at
http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/engineering/geotech/hazards/mine/index.cfm.

The NAAMLP conference and the ITGAUM workshop will complement one another
and will share a joint day of technical presentations on September 22nd.
